Synopsis (MTL cuz I'm lazy): Yukari is the perfect lover who cares about you more than anyone else and escorts you. During her first meeting in a long time, she strangely points out that she gets a lot of calls from him, but Yukari never answers his phone. However, since she rings many times, when you urge him, he warns the other party on the phone.
First impression: Despite usually preferring darker romance, I’m a real sucker for fluff in situational CDs, and this volume of Private Detective 2 delivered. All the kisses were so soft and gentle and Yukari’s character was meant to be extremely protective of the listener. The only negative thing I noticed was the climax SFX. This is honestly a trend in the industry as a whole. The SFX are either barely there or super obnoxious. I actually don’t usually hate the squishy noises but there’s no consistency even within labels and that’s what annoys me. I admittedly have no idea how editing works in this industry, so I won’t fault anyone in particular.
Final impressions (after multiple listens): Sawa Manaka is very talented and this is just another example of his talent. The timing of every breath is precise and practiced. I can tell that it’s meant to feel in sync with the listener. I expect nothing less from him. Whenever a character is voiced by Sawa Manaka, I feel like the character always has a moment when they get lost in the sex. I don’t know if that makes sense, but Sawa Manaka is really good at his job. When I first got into audio dramas, he was the first voice I could recognize and it’s because of his distinctive raspy voice. I also like that his kisses always sound a little “wet”. That’s just a personal preference though.
Would I recommend it?: I would recommend this. The story is fluffy so there are no surprises for people that aren’t looking for any. It’s a short CD but you still get how much the listener is loved. I will say that the story is barely there. It’s basically PWP but, aye, I love me some good PWP. Also, the simplicity is good for someone who’s using it to practice Japanese.
